All the way to Dubai

~Aslam Ubaid .E. Sulaim~

When I opened the door, the golden rays of the sun pierced through my eyes. I saw the small grasses bearing a thousand suns within droplets of water. On the lawn was a 'Range rover' waiting for me. I took my trolley bag and placed it inside the boot and placed myself inside the car. Soon we were heading straight to CIAL (Cochin International Airport Limited). Most of the time, I was sunken in files which I were going to present at the conference. The journey was like sliding through a pile of feathers. Each mile we covered, millions of leaves, flowers, buds and twigs witnessed us.

Two and a half hours of smooth ride, I reached our first destination, the mighty CIAL. I lost almost two hours with the emigration clearance and all those stuff. at last I could find my companion all the way to Dubai, at seat A-6 with all the luxuries of Emirates airlines. We flew up by 10:13 AM and the weather was all clear. I could see my homeland being shrunken by height. I could witness the wast concrete fields bordered by the sea. I could also see vast farmlands little far. Soon there were nothing but us between the vast blue sky and the ferocious Arabian sea.

Soon, I could see some dolphins diving in and out of the vast expanse of the sea. What I couldn't find was ships sailing through this historic pathway. Most of the time, the sun was playing hide and seek with me as the waves passed by. There were no air gutters, Storms or even clouds to make our path boring. At last I could see the world's tallest building, the Burj-Khalifa. from a distance. I felt that we were stuck in mid air because we didn't seem to move any further.

After short impatient moments, we were at the second terminal of Dubai International Airport. After all security clearances, I could finally meet my dad. Thanks to him, the customs clearance didn't take too long. I stepped out of the airport and in to my dad's official BMW and were on our way to his office. I met most of his co-workers there. Many were on out-door work due to the upcoming UAE national day (December 2nd). The most memorable one was sergeant Ibrahim Mahmood ibin Sayyid who was one of my dad's pals. He was really friendly and took care of all my needs with keen interest. I was waiting for my company's conference to be held the next day at Burj-al-Arab. I was busy with those stuff so I couldn't roam much. On the way to my dad's apartment, someone called me from my back and I soon realized it was 8:00 in the morning and I slept a lot. I felt pained because I couldn't attend the conference at Burj-al-Arab and present my speech.

Soon, I was in a hurry to get ready for school. At last I was late for school for the first time. I was happy that I could visit the legendary city of Dubai, even if it was in my dreams.
